Shopping for school lunches should be an Olympic sport.

BRONZE: You must overcome the hurdles of school food restrictions & your own child's allergy limitations.

SILVER: You must also navigate the ever-changing world of what constitutes as healthy options: "No red dyes," "Non-gmo," "Free of artificial yada, yada, yada," etc.

GOLD: On top of everything else, your kids must eat what you've picked out for them.

Could you handle the pressure? Would you make it to the awards podium? If you're having your doubts, I've got one snack food option that could seriously step up your lunchbox game.

We all know that fruits and veggies are ideal options when it comes to our kids' lunches, but sometimes a crunchy treat can bring in some additional textures and unconventional flavors. Enter PEATOS.

Peatos are flavor-packed crunchy treats made from peas (hence the name), beans, lentils, and chickpeas. These ingredients have a naturally higher protein content than potato or corn-based snacks, so they'll leave my children feeling fuller longer. If I can cut down the number of times my kids ask for a snack, that's a win in my book!

I took my two little rascals to our local King Soopers store to stock up on some Peatos products. Here's a little snippit of our journey to finding them in the produce department:

Our family did a taste test with all four flavors: Classic Cheese, Fiery Hot, Chili Cheese, and Masala. See our reactions on Facebook here. Classic Cheese was a favorite for both of my kids, and Masala was a big win for me.

Don't overthink your child's school lunchboxes this year. Head to the produce department and you'll find everything you need to pack a gold medal worthy meal.
