July 9, 2024

Has a librarian made a difference in your life or gone above and beyond to help your community? Now's your chance to celebrate their impact by nominating them for the prestigious I Love My Librarian Award.

This award allows library lovers like you to recognize the accomplishments of exceptional public, school, college, community college, or university librarians. Each year, up to ten librarians are honored at a ceremony held in their honor and receive a $5,000 cash award.

Nominations are open through September 30, 2024.

Librarians touch the lives of the people they serve every day. Since the award was established in 2008, library users nationwide have submitted more than 23,000 nominations detailing how librarians have gone above and beyond in their commitment to inclusivity, literacy, and digital access. Only 160 librarians have received the distinguished honor.

Consider nominating a local librarian for this prestigious award.

Other nominee considerations include librarians at accredited two-year or four-year colleges or universities or accredited K-12 schools.

American Library Association (ALA) member leaders will select the award-winning librarians from thousands of nominations, and each selected librarian will receive $5,000 in recognition of their outstanding public service.

While only ten librarians are selected each year for the award, all nominated librarians receive copies of their nominations and see how much their communities love them.
