4 Reasons to Visit Elitch Gardens NOW ~ Last Day for Rides is Oct 28

By Sarah Hauge, Publisher, Macaroni Kid, Englewood, Greenwood Village, Centennial August 20, 2020

If you've lived in Colorado through a summer season, you know that Elitch Gardens is THE place to have some fun. For four straight summers, we heard the ads on the radio and debated the question that many families ask, "Is it worth it for really young children?" Well, this year we FINALLY made our way to the theme park for the very first time, and as it turns out, it is!

Kiddieland was the PERFECT spot for our children (ages 4 &5). Most rides in Kiddieland require riders to be 36" tall, while some rides (like the Elitch Express mini-train) allow shorter children with adult supervision. As long as your child is no longer a hand-held infant, there is something for him/her to enjoy.

While most summer attractions close Labor Day weekend, Elitch Gardens remains open through the end of October. With 4 full weekends left in the season, there's still plenty of time to go. If you need a little convincing, here are 4 reasons why October is a GREAT time of year to visit the park:

1. Enjoy the Cloud Coverage

My kids were at the ripe young age of experiencing many rides without a chaperone. So what did my husband and I do while they rode the rides? We melted in the Colorado sun. Sure, there are some nice shaded areas throughout the park, but everyone else seemed to have the same idea. Though Colorado weather is unpredictable, it's much cooler now than it was in the middle of summer. Take advantage of the more favorable weather.

2. Save BIG with Discount Pricing

The 2019 Season Passes are good for the remainder of 2018 in addition to next season. They're currently on sale for $59.99/each. Regular pricing is $179.99. That's HUGE savings!! Want to save money on meals too? The 2019 Dining Plans are also on sale now.

3. Participate in Special Events

Although Elitch Gardens hosts incredible events throughout their season, October has some of the best yet. Fright Fest runs September 28 through October 28 and is full of costumes, candy, and interactive challenges. For low-fright fun, visit by day. For shrills and chills, visit by night.

This year also marks the 20th Annual Fright Fest Pet Parade. Dress up your pet for a fun contest on October 13. Proceeds benefit PawsCo.

4. Be Spontaneous

I'll be the first to admit that I'm a creature of habit. I associate theme parks with summertime and the idea of going any other time of the year is typically not on my radar. BUT, if I really wanted to surprise my kids, I know that a spur-of-the-moment trip to Elitch Gardens would be a hit. Have a little fun and let loose!
