"It's better when you play with friends," says 13-year old Connor as he powers up the Nintendo Switch for a 2K Carnival Games single-elimination tournament. With joy-cons in hand, the stage was set for an epic battle. The crew of tweens and teens challenged each other in ring toss, cosmic bowling, and drone racing for the title of "Champion" and ultimate bragging rights. Jacob was the victor.

What can you expect with 2K's Carnival Games?

Fun for a wide range of ages and video-gaming ability, Carnival Games offers family-friendly competition through TWENTY minigames. Play alone or join friends, these quick carnival-inspired games will leave you feeling nostalgic for summer days at the fairgrounds.

How can I incorporate 2K's Carnival Games into my next event?

With games that last 60 seconds, it's easy to swap players in and out of the game-playing experience. Create a tournament bracket for a carnival-themed party to bring out the group's competitive spirit.

Not only are the games short and sweet, but the controls are quite simple even if you're a video game newbie. Carnival Games is an excellent icebreaker for large crowds from the youngest of kids to the eldest of adults. In the spirit of the carnival, "Come one, come all!"

Our thoughts and recommendations?

  • Make sure you have 4 joy-cons. This is definitely a game that is more fun with a crowd.
  • While you can certainly play Carnival Games on the handheld device, we think it's best on the big screen.
  • When setting up your players, match the color of each joy-con controller to the players' colors in the game. This will make more sense when players select their characters.
  • Though the game is rated E10+ due to cartoon violence, I feel comfortable letting my kids (ages 4 & 6) play without concern. There are plenty of minigames suitable for the younger crowd.
