Check Out Colorado State Parks ~ Free Library Backpack Program

Get your Explorer Pass and Backpack at Colorado Libraries

In partnership with the Colorado Department of Education, State Library, and local library systems, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is encouraging Coloradans to get outside through the "Check Out State Parks" Backpack Program.

Each participating library has two activity backpacks containing all you need to access Colorado State Parks for FREE. In addition to a State Park access pass, backpacks include binoculars, wildlife viewing guide, a tree and wildflower identification guide, park brochures, suggested activities list, and other educational materials.

Get Started On Your Adventure

  1. Go to your local library to check out an Adventure Backpack & State Park access pass.
  2. Visit a Colorado State Park and explore! Passes are good for up to seven days.
  3. Share your adventures with #CheckOutColorado on social.
