Gifting for a crowd can often be an expensive and impersonal endeavor, and every year as our gifting list grows, I find myself on the hunt for that one perfect idea. Well, this year I found it-- candy cane elves!

These sweet treats tick so many boxes for me:

✔️ personal, ✔️ affordable, ✔️ easy to make, ✔️ allergy-friendly, ✔️ fun!

If your child needs a gift for every student in the class or you want to spread some smiles to a handful of neighbors, these candy cane elves will surely do the trick.

Supplies:

  • Full-size candy canes
  • Cardstock paper
  • Hot glue
  • Scissors
  • Optional: embellishments such as rhinestones, ribbons, pom-poms, glitter

Directions:

Glue or tape a pair of candy canes together such that the bottoms flair out a bit from each other, forming a set of legs.

Cut out various clothing items from cardstock paper. Our elves are wearing dresses or a shirt/shorts combo, mittens, hats, and boots.

Mac Kid Tip: To get the sizing right for the clothing and accessories, trace around the candy canes before making any cuts.

Print out a photo of your elf's face and cut out the image, including a small portion of the neck to help glue it to the body.

Face sizing tip: For our elves, we printed each member of our family such that our faces measured approximately 2 inches tall.

Our elves used traditional red and white striped candy canes, but as more and more flavors become available, you could certainly mix things up with other color combinations.
