5 Need-To-Know Tips for Visiting Water World with Your Family

A first-timers guide to navigating one of Colorado's best family-friendly venues for water fun

Some of my BEST childhood memories are from visiting the local water park during the summer, and now I get to turn the tables and create summer water park memories with my own kids at Water World... and you can too!

Water World is located on the north side of Denver and is one of America's largest water parks with more than 50 slides and attractions. Because it's so big and full of magical wonder, we thought we'd share our top 5 tips to help you make the most out of your next family adventure.

1. Get familiar with the campus.

Water World is HUGE, and if you've never been before, it can be hard to decide where to explore first. Head over to waterworldcolorado.com before you visit to review the park map. On the website, each attraction has thrill ratings, height requirements, photos, videos, and even a sensory guide to help you figure out which ones are most suitable for your family.

After getting a lay of the land, make a mental note of your top 3 must-ride attractions. As the park fills with guests, you'll want to make sure you ride your highest priority rides first to avoid the growing lines.

Also, to stay up to date on park regulations, be sure to visit the Know Before You Go page on the Water World website.

2. Buy your tickets ahead of time.

Buy your tickets ahead of time in order to save time having to wait in line once the park opens. Not only are the prices better online, but you'll avoid being turned away in the event that tickets are sold out.

3. Invest in tube valet.

Although not cheap, tube valet is worth every penny-- especially if you plan to stay and play all day. What is it exactly? Well, Tube Valet gets you express entry into six popular attractions including Voyage to the Center of the Earth and Mile High Flyer. Plus, with Tube Valet, those heavy group tubes are waiting for you at the top of the slides. No need to carry them yourself!

Don't forget to book your tube valet ahead of time too. This limited amenity is likely to be sold out upon arrival because of all the amazing benefits.

4. Pack your own snacks & drinks.

While there are many delicious on-site food options available, you CAN bring in coolers with outside food and beverage. Each guest may bring in ONE personal cooler (no larger than 30 quarts) and ONE personal bag (such as a backpack or beach tote).

5. Wear flip flops/waterproof shoes throughout the park.

Storing all your gear in an on-site locker is a great option, but don't stash away your footwear! On a hot summer day the ground gets really toasty and your feet will be begging for relief. You can wear secured waterproof shoes on the attractions, or you can kick off your flip flops at the entrance/exit of each ride.
