A quarter of households in the United States own cats, but statistics show that Colorado families tend to lean more dog-friendly given the year-round sunshine and potential for outdoor companionship. According to the last US Census estimate, there are actually more dogs in Denver than there are children!

1. A silly joke.

2. A new vocabulary word.

Have you ever seen a cat wearing pajamas? I certainly have not. So why do people say, "the cat's pajamas?"


The cat's pajamas are not actual clothing items. Instead, the cat's pajamas is an idiom used to describe something outstanding. For example, you could say that a new, exciting movie is the cat's pajamas.
