So. Much. Christmas!!

Our family loves to kick off our winter holiday season with an overnight stay at Gaylord Rockies Resort... it is literally the definition of Christmas, bursting with Christmas decor and cheer in every nook and cranny. It truly is a magical place in the winter and has become one of my favorite places to go as a family, whether it's just for the day or a fun winter staycation.

The author received an overnight stay at Gaylord Rockies to facilitate the writing of this article. All thoughts and opinions expressed are the author's own.

🎄 FIVE THINGS OUR FAMILY LOVES TO DO AT GAYLORD ROCKIES RESORT AT CHRISTMASTIME 🎄

1. Swim outdoors in the middle of winter.

There's just something about swimming outside when there's a chill in the air. Taking a dip in the winter night air is even more fun! We always have to leave plenty of time for swimming when we visit Gaylord Rockies. The heated pools and lazy river are a huge draw, plus the fire pits and food delivered to your chair put the experience right over the top.

2. Visit the signature holiday attraction.

This year, ICE! is back, with A Charlie Brown Christmas! When you put on that signature blue parka, you are instantly transported into the fantastic world of the Peanuts gang. Visit with all of Charlie Brown's friends as you make your way through ten frozen scenes from "A Charlie Brown Christmas," complete with ice carvings that range from teeny tiny to 30 feet tall! We stay until our hands can't take the cold because we love it so much!

BONUS: Exclusive Access for Overnight Guests

This year, Gaylord Rockies is offering perks and special access to overnight resort guests so they can wait in line less and enjoy more! These perks include:

  • “Chill Pass” privileges to ICE!, offering front-of-line access and shorter wait times for this year’s signature attraction. “Chill Pass” is free for eligible guests. Attraction tickets are required and sold separately, in advance.
  • An invitation to “Extra Cool Hour,” which provides early entry into ICE! and Mistletoe Village one hour before it opens to day guests. “Extra Cool Hour” is free for eligible guests. Attraction tickets are required and sold separately, in advance.

3. Explore Gaylord Rockies for photo ops and Christmas delights.

You can't go anywhere at Gaylord Rockies in the winter without finding hidden Christmas treasures... amazing photo ops, Charlie Brown themed surprises, delicious treats, and delights for the eyes. We love to explore for hours to find the perfect souvenirs from our stay at Gaylord Rockies. The hard part is not finding them (there are plenty of options!)... it's choosing your favorite!

4. Check out some of the more than a dozen holiday activities.

There is never a dull moment at Gaylord Rockies. I always tell people to plan on spending at least one whole day there if they are not spending the night (which I highly recommend!). There are so many things to do! Shop at Mistletoe Village, visit Santa, test your problem-solving skills at the Naughty or Nice Escape Room, attend Elf Training Academy, or go for an outdoor adventure at Glacier Point. Our favorite has to be tubing in the snow at night!

5. Enjoy a fun drink or snack in a tucked-away corner.

Whether you prefer a cocktail or a warm cup of hot cocoa, or even a fun holiday snack, there is something for everyone at Gaylord Rockies. We grab our faves, then head to our favorite spot away from the hustle and bustle. We laugh, talk, visit, and people-watch. It is how we cap off our day of fun, and we truly enjoy the time we spend together, surrounded by Christmas trees and the "Winter in Colorado" atmosphere. It's the perfect way to wrap up our day before heading to our room.
