Are you in need of snow removal help, or are you willing to help others in your neighborhood tackle the cold, heavy white stuff this winter? Snow Buddies is a voluntary program that connects those who need snow removal assistance with volunteers willing to help. Organized by the Neighborhood Resources Program.

This program is available to Englewood residents who:

  • Cannot physically shovel their sidewalk
  • Cannot afford to pay for a snow removal service
  • Do not have any neighbors or individuals living in the home to assist them

Please note that typically a volunteer snow buddy is your neighbor. The City of Englewood will do our best to match volunteers and those in need of help, however if a match is not found, residents are responsible for removing snow.

Volunteer to Be a Snow Buddy

Frequently Asked Questions For Snow Buddy Volunteers

What is the commitment for a snow buddy volunteer?

Volunteers are expected to shovel their snow buddy's path from the sidewalk to their front door and the public sidewalk in front of their property within 24 hours of the conclusion of a snowfall of 2 inches or more from November 15 to April 15.

What if I am out of town and unable to shovel my snow buddy’s walkway and sidewalk?

Let your snow buddy know if there are any days that you will be unavailable so they can plan to make other snow removal arrangements.

Is it possible to be paired with a Snow Buddy within walking distance from my home?

Yes! When submitting your application, please specify that you prefer to be paired with a buddy within walking distance. Our goal is to match buddies who live within a mile of each other.

Frequently Asked Questions for Snow Buddies In-Need

Does filling out the sign-up form guarantee that I will be matched with a snow buddy?

Not necessarily. We try to pair buddies that live within a mile of one another, unless otherwise specified in the volunteer application. Applications are accepted throughout the season, so as we receive more applications throughout the season, we do our best to match everyone in need with a snow buddy volunteer. If a snow buddy in-need applicant is not paired with a snow buddy volunteer, residents are still responsible for snow removal.

How soon will a snow buddy volunteer clear their snow buddy’s sidewalk and walkway?

Snow buddy volunteers aim to clear walkways within 24 hours of the conclusion of a snowfall of 2 inches or more.
